Palo Santo is meant to clear negative energy and restore tranquility and calm emotions. This mystical tree grows on the coast of South America & is related to Frankincense, Myrrh, and Copal. Burning these sticks is a sacred practice used by Indigenous communities of the Andes to cleanse their space & ward off evil spirits. This practice is called smudging – a spiritual practice where you clear your energy fields using a piece of burning Palo Santo &/or an herb bundle. Those practices are still utilized today, traditionally as a natural remedy for stress. It can also be used before meditation, an energy cleansing bath, or to enhance creativity/productivity.

Before burning you must remove ribbon & string.
Light Palo Santo at a 45 degree angle with tip of flame. Once flame forms let it burn for 15-25 seconds, depending on the size of the stick, before blowing out.
Start by smudging your body, aura, & energy field. Intentionally influence your space utilizing the Palo Santo. Focus on love, gratitude, & positive aspects in your life. Play uplifting tunes, if you'd like. Practice this ritual with the rest of your space. When moving through your space either smudge clockwise or counter-clockwise. Be intentional rather than random when choosing your direction. Or set intentions & utilize during a meditation.
